Work at Height Safety Training

Overview

Work at Height Safety is a high-risk corporate programme designed to prevent falls, dropped-object incidents, and access-related failures—one of the most significant causes of serious injury and fatalities across construction, maintenance, utilities, warehousing, and industrial operations. Height work includes more than rooftops and scaffolds; it also includes ladders, stepladders, mezzanines, fragile surfaces, openings, loading platforms, and temporary access systems.

This course equips employees, supervisors, and safety teams to plan work safely, select appropriate access equipment, implement effective fall prevention and fall protection measures, and maintain inspection and rescue readiness awareness. The programme focuses on disciplined execution—ensuring height work is controlled through practical planning, supervision, and consistent compliance.

What You’ll Learn?
Understand what work at height includes and why falls can be fatal even from relatively low heights.
Identify hazards: unprotected edges, fragile roofs, openings, unstable surfaces, dropped objects, weather impacts, and poor access arrangements.
Apply the hierarchy of controls: avoid height work where possible, prevent falls through collective protection, and minimise consequences where prevention is not feasible.
Select the right access method: ladders, step ladders, mobile towers, scaffolds, MEWPs, and fixed access systems (awareness level).
Use fall protection correctly: work restraint, fall arrest awareness, harness basics, anchor principles, and safe positioning (role-dependent).
Implement inspection discipline: pre-use checks, formal inspections, tagging systems, and defect reporting.
Control dropped objects using tool lanyards, toe boards, exclusion zones, safe material handling, and housekeeping discipline.
Strengthen permit/control processes (where used), supervision, communication, and stop-work triggers.
Understand rescue awareness: suspension trauma, rapid rescue importance, escalation, and readiness requirements.
