Overview

Safe Operation of Forklift is a critical corporate programme designed to prevent forklift-related incidents such as collisions, tip-overs, struck-by injuries, crush incidents, and dropped loads. Forklifts operate in fast-moving environments where pedestrians, racking systems, loading bays, and vehicle movements create constant interface risk. A single error—excess speed, poor visibility, unstable load handling, or unsafe reversing—can result in severe injury, fatality, or major property damage.

This course strengthens operator competence and site control by focusing on stability principles, safe manoeuvring, disciplined inspections, correct load handling, pedestrian segregation, and safe loading bay practices. It is suitable for warehouses, manufacturing sites, logistics hubs, retail distribution centres, ports, yards, and any workplace using powered industrial trucks.

What You’ll Learn?
Understand the major forklift hazards and why most incidents are preventable through disciplined controls.
Apply stability fundamentals: centre of gravity, load centre, rated capacity, and safe operation on slopes and uneven surfaces.
Conduct pre-use checks and identify defects that require immediate isolation and reporting.
Operate safely around pedestrians: speed control, horn use, visibility discipline, designated routes, and exclusion zones.
Handle loads correctly: lifting, travelling, stacking/de-stacking, and racking awareness to prevent load drops and structural damage.
Apply safe reversing and turning practices to prevent collisions and crush incidents.
Strengthen loading bay and docking controls: trailer movement prevention awareness, dock edge control, and safe loading/unloading discipline.
Apply safe refuelling/charging practices for electric, diesel, or LPG forklifts (site-specific).
Respond correctly to near misses and incidents, including reporting, securing the area, and supporting investigation learning.
