OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
The OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is a professionally focused qualification designed for individuals progressing toward senior operational and managerial responsibility in workplace health and safety. It develops the competence required to translate policy into effective practice—strengthening governance, risk and incident management, legal compliance awareness, and the behavioural elements that shape safety culture.
This programme is structured to build confident practitioners who can plan, implement, monitor, review, and improve occupational health and safety arrangements—supporting consistent performance across teams, contractors, and multi-activity workplaces.

Progression: As an Ofqual-regulated qualification, learners may progress to OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management or relevant master’s programmes (subject to entry criteria).
TSP Pathway (BCSP): ECHSE supports eligible graduates seeking the BCSP Transitional Safety Practitioner (TSP®) designation. TSP is a BCSP designation available to graduates of qualifying certificate/diploma programmes and can satisfy the “qualified credential” requirement toward the CSP® pathway (subject to BCSP requirements). (BCSP)
The qualification consists of 7 mandatory units, totalling 60 credits, with 600 hours TQT and 220 GLH.

- Risk and Incident Management (8 credits | GLH 30 | TQT 80)
- Promoting a Positive Health and Safety Culture (6 credits | GLH 20 | TQT 60)
- Maintaining a Safe Workplace Environment (12 credits | GLH 40 | TQT 120)
- Health and Safety Law, Regulation and Influence (8 credits | GLH 35 | TQT 80)
- Development of the Health and Safety Practitioner (8 credits | GLH 25 | TQT 80)
