The OTHM Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is a professional qualification designed to develop advanced competence for those who must lead internal quality assurance (IQA) within vocational education and training environments. It strengthens the knowledge and practical capability required to plan, manage, and monitor assessment quality—ensuring decisions are consistent, compliant, and defensible, while supporting continuous improvement across assessors, programmes, and learner outcomes.
The programme builds both theoretical understanding and workplace-ready practice, supporting learners to operate as effective quality assurance practitioners and to lead teams of IQA practitioners within centres and learning organisations.

Progression: Successful completion provides progression opportunities to relevant Level 5 qualifications.
Level Equivalence: OTHM Level 4 qualifications are benchmarked as equivalent (academically) to HNC / Year 1 of a UK bachelor’s degree.
This qualification consists of 3 mandatory units, totalling 18 credits (TQT: 180 hours | GLH: 115 hours):

- Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment (Unit Ref: H/617/8464 | Level 4 | 6 credits | GLH 45 | TQT 60)
- Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility (Unit Ref: K/617/8465 | Level 4 | 6 credits | GLH 25 | TQT 60)
