Overview

Forklift Operator Safety is a critical corporate programme designed to prevent serious injuries, fatalities, property damage, and operational disruption associated with powered industrial truck operations. Forklifts operate in high-interaction environments—often alongside pedestrians, racking systems, loading bays, and moving vehicles—where visibility limitations, stability risks, poor load handling, and unsafe traffic management can escalate into catastrophic events.

This course strengthens operator competence and workplace control by focusing on safe operating practices, stability principles, inspection discipline, pedestrian segregation, loading/unloading safety, and incident prevention behaviours. It is suitable for warehouses, logistics hubs, manufacturing sites, ports, retail distribution centres, construction projects, and any workplace using forklifts or similar material handling equipment.

What You’ll Learn?
Understand forklift hazards and the most common causes of incidents, including tip-overs, collisions, struck-by injuries, and load drops.
Apply stability fundamentals: centre of gravity, load centre, rated capacity, and safe handling on slopes and uneven surfaces.
Conduct pre-use inspections and recognise defects that require removal from service and reporting.
Operate safely in pedestrian environments: visibility control, speed management, horns, mirrors, spotters, and exclusion zones.
Handle loads correctly: safe lifting, travelling, stacking, de-stacking, racking awareness, and load securing principles.
Perform safe docking and loading bay operations: trailer movement control, wheel chocks/dock locks awareness, and edge protection.
Apply safe refuelling/charging practices for diesel/LPG/electric forklifts (site-specific), including ventilation and ignition control.
Understand operator responsibilities, authorisation discipline, and the importance of seatbelts and safe conduct.
Respond correctly to near-misses and incidents, including reporting, securing the area, and learning actions.
