Banksman & Signalman Safety Training is a high-impact corporate programme designed to prevent struck-by incidents, vehicle collisions, reversing accidents, dropped-load events, and communication failures during lifting operations and site vehicle movements. Banksmen and signalmen operate at the most critical interface between moving plant/vehicles, pedestrians, and suspended loads—where poor positioning, unclear signals, blind spots, and time pressure can rapidly lead to serious injury or fatality.

This course equips banksmen and signalmen with the practical competence to guide vehicles and cranes safely, maintain exclusion zones, apply recognised signalling discipline, and coordinate effectively with operators, supervisors, and lifting teams. The programme is essential for construction sites, logistics yards, ports, warehouses, industrial projects, shutdowns, and any workplace with frequent reversing, heavy vehicle movements, and lifting activities.

What You’ll Learn?
Understand the banksman/signalman role, limits of authority, and why disciplined control prevents high-consequence events.
Identify critical hazards: blind spots, reversing zones, pinch points, swing radius, suspended loads, and simultaneous operations.
Apply safe positioning principles: maintaining visibility, safe distance, escape routes, and “no-go” zones.
Use clear, standardised hand signals and communication methods for vehicle manoeuvring and lifting operations.
Establish and maintain exclusion zones and pedestrian segregation, including barricading and access control discipline.
Coordinate safely with crane operators, plant operators, riggers/slingers, and supervisors—ensuring one clear point of control.
Apply stop-work triggers when conditions become unsafe (poor visibility, unstable loads, congestion, ground conditions, weather).
Manage reversing activities safely: route clearance, spot checks, alarms awareness, and controlled movement.
Support lift planning execution through signal discipline, controlled movement, and interface management.
Respond to emergencies: loss of control, near misses, incidents, and correct reporting/escalation actions.
